![]() Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you. ![]() Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. Therefore, putting away lying, “ Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,įor no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.Īnd let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body and be thankful. Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh."Īnd He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.įor He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.įrom whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. ![]() And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. For in fact the body is not one member but many.īut now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free-and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.įor as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body for we all partake of that one bread.įor as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.įor he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
